What is the job role?

As an Accounts Assistant, you’ll ensure our financial data is accurate, up-to-date, and ready to drive decision-making across the business. By managing our payables and receivables ledgers, you’ll guarantee smooth, accurate, and timely transactions that are essential to our success. Reporting to the Financial Accountant, your work will power the insights that keep us moving forward, making you a key part of our journey every single day.

Key Responsibilities:

✔ Accounts Payable: Process supplier invoices, verify accuracy, and prepare payments.

✔ Accounts Receivable: Work closely with the commercial team to reconcile customer invoices, ensure payments are received, and follow up on outstanding balances.

✔ Bank Reconciliations: Regularly reconcile company bank accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.

✔ Expense Management: Verify and process employee expense claims, ensuring compliance with company policies.

✔ Data Entry and Data Processing: Accurately input and process financial data into accounting systems and maintain up-to-date records.

✔ Support Month-End Processes: Assist with the preparation of monthly financial reports, journals, and reconciliations, , and to assist in producing monthly balance sheet reconciliations.

Who are we looking for?

The ideal person has the following skills, experiences and competencies:

✔ Proven experience in an accounts assistant or similar role (minimum 1 year preferred).

✔ AAT qualification or equivalent

✔ Proficiency with accounting software and MS Excel.

✔ Good understanding of accounting principles and financial practices

✔ Some knowledge of the UK tax system, in particular VAT, would be advantageous

✔ Strong communication and organisational skills in order to respond to internal and external inquiries and requests in good time, and in a professional manner.

✔ Proactive approach to dealing with ad hoc requests and queries from the wider SunGod team, ensuring that business functions are able to run smoothly.

✔ Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and act with integrity in handling sensitive financial information.
