As Head of Finance at SunGod, you will focus on overseeing the company’s financial operations and ensuring day-to-day excellence in financial management. You’ll oversee all financial processes, including month-end reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, and compliance, while providing actionable insights to drive business performance and growth. You will work closely with the Leadership Team, whilst leading our high-performing Finance and Sustainability teams. Combining financial expertise with a focus on profitability, sustainability and operational efficiency, you will oversee financial performance to support SunGod’s long-term success.

What is the job role?

Financial Control

• Manage, enhance and oversee the execution of the month-end process to ensure timely and reliable monthly management accounts and financial reports, including P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cashflow variance analysis from budget.
• Lead the preparation of the annual budget and forecasting models, coordinating inputs with the Leadership Team.
• Ensure all financial processes and controls are effectively administered and continuously monitored, including stock level controls, purchase order processes, and supplier reconciliations.
• Manage cash flow effectively, including robust cash flow forecasting.
• Maintain thorough documentation of financial reporting processes and ensure ongoing risk evaluation and mitigation.
• Oversee the preparation of statutory accounts in conjunction with external accountants.
• Oversee the smooth running of all financial operations (AP/AR/Payroll/VAT) managed by the Finance Team.
• Manage financial operations across multiple sales channels, including retail, wholesale, and e-commerce, ensuring profitability and operational efficiency.
• Support international growth by establishing scalable financial processes and controls to manage multi-market expansion, currency exposure, and overseas tax compliance.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements.

Business Intelligence and Reporting

• Prepare and present financial reports, performance metrics, and insights to the Leadership Team, wider team, and investors.
• Provide actionable financial analysis and insights to drive decision-making across the business, including areas such as performance marketing, pricing, merchandising, and stock analysis.
• Analyse key growth drivers, including ROI and unit economics, to identify opportunities to accelerate business performance and growth.
• Support weekly trading meetings and tactical activities using performance data to drive improvements.
• Ensure transparent reporting on sustainability initiatives and metrics, both internally and externally.
• Continuously evolve reporting and analysis capabilities as the business scales, focusing on the greatest opportunities for growth.

Leadership and Team Development

• Work closely with the Leadership Team, supporting the company’s strategic direction and ensuring financial considerations are integrated into all business decisions.
• Mentor and lead the Finance team, fostering a high-performing culture and supporting professional growth.
• Mentor and lead the Sustainability team, ensuring alignment with SunGod’s triple bottom line, and embedding sustainability initiatives across the supply chain, operations, and decision-making processes.
• Work closely with the Operations Manager to optimise supply chain, logistics, and operational efficiency.

• Proven Experience: Extensive hands-on experience in senior finance roles, with a strong track record of proactively identifying financial risks, ensuring accuracy, and driving accountability. Ideally, experience in high-growth consumer businesses, with international growth, wholesale, and retail being a strong advantage..

• Qualified accountant with 5+ years of accounting and financial management experience

• A strong team player who is willing to challenge at all levels
